Make your AI write the spec before it writes the code
Made by Fission
View profile on GitHub (opens in a new tab)A framework that puts a written specification between you and an AI coding assistant.
You describe an idea, the assistant writes requirements with concrete scenarios as plain Markdown, and you review that plan before any code exists. The specs and the in-flight changes live in a folder in your repository, so they are reviewed and versioned like everything else. A newer beta feature puts the same structure in a repository of its own, so a feature spanning three codebases can be planned once and a platform team can own requirements that product teams read.
You could use it to…
- Read a page of requirements before any code exists
- Fix a wrong edge case in the plan before it's built
- Version specs alongside your code in the same repo
Can I use this?
You'll need Node.js 20.19 or later, and a coding assistant · Setup needed
Worth knowing The specification is only as good as the review it gets — an unread spec is slower than no spec, and it is easy to approve a plan that sounds right. The shared-store feature is in beta. The project was recently rebuilt around a new artifact-guided workflow, so older tutorials and blog posts may describe commands that have changed. MIT licence.
