Generate a song, then edit its melody and chords before rendering

View profile on GitHub (opens in a new tab)YuE2 is a music generation system that writes a song in two visible steps: given lyrics and a style description, it first produces a melody-and-chord plan in ordinary notation, then turns that plan into finished audio with vocals and backing.
Keeping the plan in the middle means a person or an agent can read it, change a line, and re-render, instead of gambling on a whole new take. It also does zero-shot covers — reimagining a transcribed song in a different style — and conversational editing through the same checkpoint. It needs a capable GPU and Python, and a free online demo is also linked from the project.
You could use it to…
- Turn your lyrics and a style note into a finished song
- Edit the melody or chords, then re-render just that part
- Reimagine an existing song transcription in a new style

Worth knowing The quality comparisons against commercial music tools are the project’s own, from its benchmark and a public listening study it is still running. The code is Apache-2.0 but the weights are published separately on Hugging Face under a non-commercial licence, so an open repository does not make the output free to sell. Generating music in the style of existing artists raises questions the project does not settle for you. BuildTube has not run or verified this software.
