Search the full text of every page you visited and file you keep

A browser extension feeds it the pages you visit and it indexes their full contents, along with local folders and files you point it at, so you can find something again by a phrase you remember rather than by a title or a URL you do not. You search from a web interface, from the terminal, or from an AI assistant connected over MCP. It is a single binary with no configuration needed for a personal setup, and the project says there is no telemetry and no mandatory cloud service.
You could use it to…
- Search a phrase you remember, not a title you don't
- Index the local files and folders you point it at
- Ask an AI assistant to search your own indexed history

You'll need A computer and a browser extension · Setup needed
Worth knowing It indexes the full content of the pages you visit, which is exactly the point and also a detailed record of your browsing sitting on disk — worth thinking about on a shared or work machine, and worth deciding deliberately what to include. The server has to be running for indexing and searching to work. It is AGPL-3.0, so a hosted modified version must publish its source. BuildTube has not run or verified this software.
