Send files between nearby devices without the internet
Made by LocalSend
View profile on GitHub (opens in a new tab)A free app for sharing files and messages with devices on the same local network — an alternative to AirDrop that works across Android, iOS, Windows, macOS and Linux instead of inside one company’s ecosystem.
Nothing is uploaded: devices find each other on the network and talk directly, over an encrypted connection, so no account, no internet connection and no third-party server is involved. It is published in app stores and package managers for most platforms and also has a command-line interface.
Can I use this?
You'll need Two devices on the same network · Ready to use
Worth knowing The requirement is real: both devices have to be on the same local network, so it is no help between two places. The app does not update itself, which is why the project recommends installing through an app store or package manager that will. Networks that isolate clients from each other — many guest and corporate WiFi setups do — will stop devices finding each other. Apache 2.0. BuildTube has not run or verified this software.
