Orbital HUD, a tracked live globe, FLIR terrain — then OPEN SOURCED

Picture published by the creator on GitHub.

Watch live planes, ships and satellites move on a 3D globe

gods-eye-view opens a photorealistic 3D globe in your browser and plots public live feeds on it: aircraft transponders, ship beacons, satellite orbits, earthquakes, and public traffic and security cameras.

A realtime voice agent lets you ask it to find and track something — a plane, a ship, a place — instead of clicking through menus, and the camera locks on and draws a fading trail. The project briefly reached #1 on GitHub's trending page after its creator open-sourced it in June 2026, and BuildTube features it as one of the clearest examples of a repository becoming something you can actually use.

You could use it to…

  • Track a specific flight passing overhead in real time
  • Watch container ships fill in shipping lanes across the ocean
  • Speak to the globe and ask it to find something for you

Worth knowing Coverage and freshness vary by feed, and the project says road traffic is simulated along real roads from aggregate data rather than tracked live. Some features ask for API keys you supply yourself, which can cost money. BuildTube has not run or verified this software.
